Roadmap

Get yourself familiar with the game - create some mods, karts and track - watch some tutorials
Everyday keep attempting Hot Lap and publish your mods to start bringing in Create XP
Play through the Career mode and get yourself use to all the courses and the weapons
Once you have completed the Career mode, attempt all the challenges, developer lap times, grudge matches, collecting tokens.
Use your experience and knowledge of the tracks to play online races. You will be in a better position to win races.

Anonymous

When in the ModSpot, drive over to the Race Station and into the Online section and press .
Select any online race mode and complete the race.

Newcomer

Upon starting the game up for the first time and after the opening movie you will be in a qualifying race. Complete this race.

Mechanic

When you are in the ModSpot drive over to the Creation Station and press to enter.
When you are inside use the left analog stick to scroll to the karts option.
Select it with and choose the New option.
Customise your kart how you like, when you are finished, save it.

Note: You may end up in the Creation Station after a career race. You can create your new kart at this time.

Sculpture

When you are in the ModSpot drive over to the Creation Station and press to enter.
When you are inside use the left analog stick to scroll to the tracks option.
Select it with and choose the new option.
Choose a track theme and customise your track how you like, when you are finished, save it.

Note: You may end up in the Creation Station after a career race. You can create your new track at this time.

Dresser

When you are in the ModSpot drive over to the Creation Station and press to enter.
When you are inside use the left analog stick to scroll to the mod option.
Select it with and choose the new option.
Customise your kart how you like, when you are finished, save it.

Note: You may end up in the Creation Station after a career race. You can create your new mod at this time.

Shopping Spree

When you are in the ModSpot drive over to the Creation Station and press to enter.
When you are inside use the left analog stick to scroll to the shop option.
Select it with .

Getting to know you...

From the ModSpot drive into the Online Race section, setup a Private race.
Press to access the players menu and press on your friends.
Select the invite option and invite them to the gameroom.
Do this to 5 different friends.

Note: Your friends do not need to join the gameroom all you have to do is invite them.

You can also attain this by challenging people in your ModSpot to a race. Press next to them and select Challenge, you do not need them to accept the race.

Fill ‘er up

You will need to fill your boost meter up to the max for this.

Drifting by holding .
Doing a spin in the air by holding the right analog stick to the left or right direction while you are in the air.
Drafting by driving close up and directly behind another driver.
Hitting an opponent with a weapon.

ModSpot Explorer

The ModSpot is the area where you drive around in upon the startup with of the game. It is the focal point of all modes in the game.
Visit each location in the ModSpot by driving to each location and pressing when prompted.

Headspinner

When you are playing through Career mode you will automatically come across plenty of races with a jump that you are capable of performing 1080 degree spins or 3 complete turns in the air.
As soon as you hit the jump hold left or right on the left analog stick to turn in the air.
Three spins is enough, some jumps you will go through 4 turns.
Levels which 1080 degree spins are achievable on include:

When in the ModSpot drive to the Race Station.
Career

Complete a Career Race.

Quick Race

Complete a lap of a Time Trial.
Complete a Quick Race - race type must be an Action Race under race settings.
Complete a Quick Race - race type must be Pure Race under race settings.

Trigger Happy

To pick up a weapon you need to drive into an item pod.
Press to fire a weapon.
Hold to drop a secondary weapon behind you.
When you pick up an item pod you receive a level 1 weapon.
When you pick up a second item pod without using the first weapon your level 1 weapon is upgraded to level 2.
When you pick up a third item pod without using the second weapon your level 2 weapon is upgraded to level 3.
You only need to use each weapon once. Some of the secondary weapons you may not need to fire for the trophy to unlock.
When you hit an opponent, a pop up on the screen with the racers face will appear along with some points.

When in the ModSpot, drive to the Race Station and press on the Career Central section.
When starting a race these tracks will ask you if you would like to view the tutorial, select yes and view the tutorial when the race which will automatically appear for you when you get to certain parts in the track.

Introduction - Sharing

Offering Opinions

When in the ModSpot drive to the Share Station.
Press and select Download.
From this menu you can search for anything from the most download creations to your friends creations.
Select a creations a press to rate it.
Do this 10 times each for different mods, karts and tracks.
Alternatively you can access the downloading section from the Start menu.

Note: To check your progress on how many creations you have rated, when in the ModSpot press > Stats > My Local Stats > Creations

Pioneer Racer

Take part in a first ever race for a newly published track.
Create a new track in your Creation Station.
Invite your friend to a race on your track using the Host Casual option in the Online racing section of the Race Station from the ModSpot or Host a Casual race on your track and wait for someone to join.
Or challenge a racer in your ModSpot to a race on your track. Press next to a racer and select Challenge.

Drifting Superstar

You will need to drift around a whole track in one go to collect 100,000 drift points.
You can not do this on Career mode and must use a custom made track.
You can either download a pre made track - see description below or make and publish your own.

When in the ModSpot, press then and change your driver settings to -2 Speed and +2 Drift.
Drive to the Share section of the Creation Station and press
Select Download, press which takes you to tracks, then select Search by Text.
Search for: Seph-Drift
Download this track and head to the Race Station > Quick Race > Time Trial > Downloaded
Race the track and from start to finish and you will be looking at getting around 110,000 of drift points.
Do not touch the walls or you will have to restart from the start of the track.
Do not stay too close to the inside edge as you will not get as many drift points as you need.
Hold to drift and adjust your kart with the left analog stick.

The Drifter

Drifting 1,000 times in total will come naturally as you are playing the game.
Whenever you come up to a corner with a decent enough bend hold to drift around the corner. Keep doing this and eventually you will reach 1,000.
Do this 1,000 times.

Note: To check your progress on how many drifts you have made, when in the ModSpot press > Stats > My Local Stats > Racing

Slow and Steady

When in the ModSpot, drive over to the Race Station and into the Quick Race section and press .
Select Quick Race and pick any track.
Press to advance to the race settings, set the settings to:

Number of Laps - 1
Speed Class - Rookie
Race Type - Action Race
# AI Racers - 3
Difficulty - Easy

Press to start the race, come first place without boosting or using a boost pad. You may drift as this is not boosting.

Pacifist

When in the ModSpot, drive over to the Race Station and into the Quick Race section and press .
Select Quick Race and pick any track.
Press to advance to the race settings, set the settings to:

Number of Laps - 1
Speed Class - Rookie
Race Type - Action Race
# AI Racers - 3
Difficulty - Easy

Press to start the race, come first place without firing any Do not press during the entire race.

Remixer

When in the ModSpot drive to the Creation Station, use the left analog stick to select the Share facility.
Press and select download.
Search for and download a Mod, Kart and Track.
Now keep pressing to back out to the Share facility and then use the left analog stick to go back to the Mod section.

Press on the Mod and select Select Mod, press to select the downloads menu and press on the downloaded mod.
Press to back out and select edit.
Edit the mod with a change, then select save and name the remixed Mod.

Repeat this with the Karts and Tracks. Select the creation, make a change and save it.

Be aware that some creations can not be remixed, in which case select another creation. You may also remix your own creations after you have published them.

Note: To check your progress on what remixes you have made, when in the ModSpot press > Stats > My Local Stats > Creations

Series Winner

When in the ModSpot, drive over to the Race Station and into the Online section and press .
Select Join XP Race > press right with the left analog stick to select XP Series.
You will now be in a lobby which will need a minimum of 4 racers including yourself to start a series of races.
These are a best of 5 races, you will need to come out in first place with the most collection of points that you win after each race depending on your position.
To be best prepared for these races, complete the Career mode first and learn the tracks and best routes. Attempt the challenges in Career mode, if you beat challenges and can come first in races against the AI then you will be more than capable of winning races.

Either in the ModSpot, a race or in the creation studio, press .
Select Extras and then Photo Mode.
Pres to take a photo.

Beat Down

Win an online race that is a track published by a user.
Invite your friend to a race on your track or challenge a racer in your ModSpot to a race on your track. You will then need to win the race.

Bruiser

To perform a takedown you must either sideswipe an opposing driver or hit them with a weapon.
An alert will pop up on screen saying you have taken down an opponent (with points and a picture of them).
This will come naturally as you are playing through the game.

Note: To check your progress on how many takedowns you have made, when in the ModSpot press > Stats > My Local Stats > Racing

Aggro Racer

When you have a little boost, drive alongside an opponent and push the right analog stick in the opponents direction. Your kart will jolt into the opponents kart.
An alert will pop up on screen saying you have sideswipped an opponent (with points and a picture of them).
Do this 75 times.

Note: To check your progress on how many sideswipes you have made, when in the ModSpot press > Stats > My Local Stats > Racing

Sharing Karts

When in the ModSpot drive over to the Creation Station, use the left analog stick to select the Karts.
Create your Kart, however you like or press to randomise a kart design. Save the Kart and name it.
From there scroll using the left analog stick to the right to the share facility.
Then upload your Kart.

You can either:

Wait for someone to download your Kart.
Ask your friends to download your Kart.
Promote your Kart to other players in the ModSpot.
Message other players and ask to download their Kart in return for downloading yours.

Your Kart will need 10 downloads.

To check your current progress:
When in the ModSpot
Press go down to Stats > go right to My Online Profile.
Press to view your creations and highlight your selected Kart.
or
Press go right to Share > go left to Manage Creations > press once.
Check the number next to the arrows icon to the bottom of the creations.

Sharing Mods

When in the ModSpot drive over to the Creation Station, use the left analog stick to select the Mods.
Create your Mod, however you like or press to randomise a character design. Save the Mod and name it.
From there scroll using the left analog stick to the right to the share facility.

To unlock a grudge match you need to complete all challenges (Payoff and Bonus objectives) on the map the Elite racers takes part in.
After you complete the final challenge on a course you have the option of accepting the grudge match challenge immediately.
On the race select screen, press to play a grudge match.
There is a padlock icon for grudge matches you have not won yet and a tick icon for grudge matches you have already won.

To win a race or win a race 1-on-1, simply come first.

To outscore an opponent you willl need to drift as much as possible on the course and do as many spins from jumps as you can.
You will need to finish either first or finish close to the opponent, you do not need to come first after 3 laps.
Beware of the racer who crosses the finishing line first inflicts a points deduction to the other racer who is yet to finish. This continually counts down until the racer has finished.

Flaming Hot!

When in the ModSpot drive over to the Hot Lap section.
Press to enter the Hot Lap Menu Screen. Press to start the mode.
You will need to be in the top 10% fastest lap times for the day.
To do this race against the ghost of the current number 1 fastest lap. Aim to get as close as you can to it.
Use the quickest route for the course, use boost pads and your boost fully.
To give yourself a boost into the lap, use full boost to head across the finishing line to give you momentum and speed into the next lap.
You will be sent a notification the next day to advise you if you were in the top 10%. This is only if you made it into the top 10% and you will not be told if you missed out.

Join the Team

These are the lap times set on each course as a guide to how long the laps and tracks are.
You will need to register a faster lap time quicker than the specified lap time on the course.
To know if you have beaten a lap time, look at the time specified on the race menu screen on Career mode.
If it is a round number like 0:53.000 then most likely you have not beaten it yet.
If it is a number like 1:06.157 then you have already registered a faster lap time.

Note: It is possible for you to have a time that is similar to a standard lap time. eg 0:53.000 yet your time is 0:54.000. Be aware of this.

Use your boost, concentrate on racing and not weapons, take shortcuts that make your lap time quicker.
For an easier way to attempt this at the start of the race, let all the other racers race ahead while you collect a level 3 warp weapon (which you receive upon driving in last place and picking up item pods) and a full boost bar. Attempt to beat the time at on the start of the next lap. The warp will massively warp you past a huge selection of the track and you will also not be targetted by weapons if you are driving behind the other racers.

Level of Merit

The career challenges are the Payoff and Bonus objectives on each career mode race.
There are 56 challenges in total.
When on the race menu screen press to see the Achievement Details of that race.
To complete an objective you need to pass the criteria specified and finish first.

Tips:

Concentrate on one objective per race.
Do not forget to stay in and around the first place spot, if you concentrate too hard on your challenge you will find you will fall far behind first place. As you need to come first to complete the objective.
Some of the challenges you should look to complete in the first lap so that you can concentrate on the race, if you miss your opportunity, simply restart.

List of Challenges
Note: You should aim to achieve a third of the targets per lap (an alert will pop up on the screen to inform you).

Pick up 3 item pods - These are the weapon pods dotted around the course.
Drive over 3 boost pads - These are the boost pads dotted around the course.
Get x Amount of Drift Points - Drift with around corners.
Get x Amount of Draft Points - Drive close directly behind another driver (aim for this on straight roads).
Sideswipe x Opponent(s) - When you have a little boost, drive alongside an opponent and push the right analog stick in the opponents direction. Your kart will jolt into the opponents kart.
Take x Shortcuts - Drive through a shortcut. Do a test run of the track to find where the shortcuts are.
Get x Spin Points - Spin your kart on a jump. Hold left or right on the right analog stick immediately after your kart takes to the air from a jump. Head for the jumps on a track on each lap.
Clean Lap - Finish 1 of the 3 laps without hitting a wall.
Take down x - Sideswipe or hit the opponent with a weapon. For ease save up your weapon until grade 3 and launch it close to your opponent.
Get x Max Speed Points - Drive at max speed. Use all boost pads, regularly drift and build up and use your boost. Tip: You can change your kart settings if you are struggling to get enough max speed point. Press in the ModSpot, press to view the kart settings, set the acceleration to -2, this will make it easier to earn max speed points. Now drift around the track and you will rack up points easily.
Get x Airtime Points - When your kart is in the air. Use all jumps on the course.
Take Down x at Specified Location - Listen to where the commentator makes a comment about this challenge of where the takedown needs to take place. Save your weapon for this section. Sideswipe or hit the opponent with a weapon. For ease save up your weapon until grade 3 and launch it close to your opponent.
Activate x Devastators - Drive over the yellow markers on the ground which activate devastators.
Take down opponent using a devastator - When an opponent drives underneath a devastator, drive over the yellow markers on the ground which activate devastators to take them down.
Destroy 10 Market Stalls - Drive into a market stall to destroy it. Do a test run of the track to find where the market stalls are.
Get x Pavement Points - Drive on the pavement and not the road, stay on the pavement sections and avoid jumps. Learn what parts have pavement sections, note some roads are all treated as a pavement. Driving fast across a pavement earns you more points than driving slowly along as much a pavement as possible.
No Wall Hits for Full Race - Complete 3 laps of the race without touching a wall. Be careful drifting, remember to slow down and take on some turns slowly, concentrate on the driving and not weapons.
Get x Wall Ride Points - Drive on a wall section. Learn what parts have wall sections, normally slopes that elevate your car from ground level on turns. Use the wall sections fully and avoid the roads.
No Falling - Do not fall off the track for the entire race. Stay on the road on the sections with holes, cliffs etc. Be careful drifting, remember to slow down and take on some turns slowly, concentrate on the driving and not weapons.
Destroy Nato's Explosives - Destroy 3 of Nato's explosives by firing a level one weapon directly at the crates. Do a test run of the track to find where the explosives are (crates of explosives in a pile). The opposing drivers can also destroy these explosives for you.
Sideswipe x at Specified Location - Listen to where the commentator makes a comment about this challenge of where the sideswipe needs to take place. When you have a little boost, drive alongside an opponent and push the right analog stick in the opponents direction. Your kart will jolt into the opponents kart.
Use x Unique Jumps - Use a specified jump on the course. Do a test run of the track to find where the unique jumps are.
Avoid Yellow ModBots - Do not get hit by the yellow modbots dotted around the course.
Shoot x ModBots - There are only 2 ModBots on the course in quick succession, build up some boost and tap just before them, you don't need to be facing them.

Hoarder

There are 140 tokens in total, 28 races x 5 tokens per race in the career mode.
You will need to collect them while racing and finish the race once you have collected them, you can take as much time as you need as you do not need to win the race for them to count.
Some tokens you will need to jump from a ramp, to do this press to jump at the top of a hill / ramp.
Some tokens you will need to jump high from a ramp, to do this double tap to jump higher at the top of a hill / ramp.
Some tokens you will need to take a shortcut to get to them, the ones behind a barrier you will need to lower the barriers by pressing to shoot at a target (next to the shortcut), you will need some boost in your boost bar to do this.
Once you go a certain distance past a token you will have to try to get it on the next lap as you can not go back to far to collect them or you can keep driving backwards but you will get reset for driving the wrong way.

Note: To find out how many tokens you still need to collect, when in the ModSpot drive to the Career Central section and press to enter. Scroll through the tracks with or and look at the token section (5 spaces with star tokens - underneath the lap and race times) on the race menu screen.
The tokens are in order of their position on the track, for example if you are missing number 3 then it is in the middle section of the track.

Taking on the World

When in the ModSpot, drive to the Race Station and the Online section.
Win 100 individual races in here.
Each race you win in an XP Series counts towards the total.
Attempt this after you have completed the Career and completed various challenges, grudge matches etc.
The experience and knowledge of the course will give you a great advantage when it comes to online racing.
You can also race your friends in a private casual race.

Dominator

You will need to come 1st place in every race in the career.
You will be going for this at the same time as the trophy - Level of Merit - Complete all the career challenges - because to complete the challenges you need to become first aswell as passing the challenge.
If you are finding the challenges are getting in your way of winning, then focus on the race instead and do the challenges afterwards.
Keep boost to act as a shield to defend yourself from attacks.
Use your spare boost.
Save your weapons for when you need them.
Keep with the drivers at the front of the race, if you fall behind you can just restart.

Star Creator

Create XP can only be earned by you making a creation, this is a lot of xp to earn.

XP Breakdown:

5xp per download of your creation
1xp per view of your creation
2xp per your created mod used in a Time Trial or Online race or Hot Lap
2xp per your created kart used in a Time Trial or Online race or Hot Lap
2xp per your created track used in a Time Trial or Online race or Hot Lap

Race onlne with your created Mods, Karts and Tracks.
Promote your creations to others and ask for others to download your creations, ask all your friends.

You can use other PSN accounts to aid you in this:

Publish the maximum amount of creations and upload them all.
Log into another PSN account, search for your PSN name - download all your creations and view all your creations. This process from loading up the game can take around 10 minutes, this will get you around 210xp.
Log back onto your main PSN account and unpublish all the creations.
Repeat steps 1-3

ModNation Superstar

This will come naturally as you are achieving Create XP for the Star Creator trophy
Both Race XP and Create XP count to your rank.
Create XP is earnt by users downloading your creations and your creations taking part in races.
Race XP is earnt through online races.

Total XP needed to achieve rank 30 = 500,000 xp
