Dude, what is it with you and repeating our Philosophy lessons on the forums :| .. i have enough of it in class but anyways .. Social conditioning as shown by Sigmund Freud in my eyes is the best explanation. Before the immature idiots come in here talking about Freud quoting we all want to "shag our own mothers" i urge you to refraim. Freud does have some good ethical theories as well as his more peculiar ones involving his believed relationships between mother and son, which i will now take the time to say i do not support as it is just unethical.

Definitely social conditioning.
I believe our sense of right and wrong has been ingrained in us and learnt.
What we consider to be acceptable behavior varies depending on our environment, parents, peers, community.
I think if it was passed on through our genes, our conscience wouldn't be able to change from one generation to the next fast enough to suite the times.

Unless you mean like thoughts about right and wrong type thing, then I guess it is how you were brought up and how smart you are? Maybe the ability to be able to think for yourself too.

Where does it come from? It comes from all the billions upon billions brain cells you have(Statement may be false for some). I have nothing more to say, since that is where conscience comes from in my opinion.
