Trophies = Respect or not ?

I have three friends who doesn't care about trophies, I think trophies are respect on PSN and gives you status :D

Doesn't matter if you play alone or with friends. If you ask me, it's too nerdish to have 500+ Trophies at the moment.

For me it is a kinda respect but not something that you need to have. I mean, I like to buy games which I know I'm going to n'joy and play for a long time, not only for a trophies coz it's such a waste of money. And gives you what ?? Only higher place in the table. To be honest I would never have a word about anybody only looking at his trophies (talking here about his gaming skillz). Yes, they could give you some respect but only for people who are crazy about trophies and playing games only for them (no offence to anybody). For me trophies are just a bonus. Game are for fun, not to show you who is the best :)
But remeber this is only my opinion. Anybody is not with me, thats ok :)

I do it to tease my mate, because I am way ahead of him.

But it is nice to take a look at my cabinet, and once Home arrives the 3D trophies will make me ooze glee out of every orafice.

No, I don't like Xbox because it's PlayStations "enemy" and caused Final Fantasy's delay. And I don't like xbox's controls

I dont think trophies are respect, but what you did to earn them gets respect. Trophies just prove you did it. For example, i have something stoopid like 285 trophies but i kick ass at Guitar Hero, my mates dont respect my trophies, they respect my ability (to beat them at GH). Mind you, out of all my mates, the closest to me have 42 trophies lol.

My list is full of quite a few people who care very little for trophies. The release of COD5 and Resistance 2 means they have got a few and they like the whole concept. I feel it does not matter how many you have its the completion of the game that counts :P

This is my opinion, you play games because thay are fun yes, if a game did not give you enjoyment you would not play them full stop. Also you play games because you want a challenge & thats why there is difficultie levels, & know one in there right mind plays a game to lose. You don't play a deathmatch online with the whole purpose on losing, my whole point is trophies show you've completed a game and got 50 headshots in so many minutes etc on or off-line. its just another way of being competitive, you would not have trophies to show the world, leader boards, competitive co-op etc etc otherwise.

Trophies can also show how much the Trophy-hunter plays. If you have 300 Trophies, it doesn't mean, that you are good at games. It could also mean, that you play alot to get them. :P

i somewhat agree, and somewhat dont.....maybe having more trophies on a game that you and someone else both have could be respect, but its not everything....i have a decent amount of trophies (around 400), but still i dont buy games just for them....example: i bought NBA 2k9 which doesnt have trophies over NBA 09 which does, because in my opinion 2k9 is the much better game

But nobody knows what you've done to earn them, so you can't get any respect for that... only the trophies shows that, and I said that before!
