I used to use it quite a bit but now I hardly use it, and the music player in it is crap anyway :veryangry2: lol

Does anybody else use it??

I do, but got told off using electricity over night, I think I completed 8 work units.

yeah i occasionally use it all i know rob1104 is that by using it you somehow contribute to finding cures for as yet uncureable illnesses by donating some power towards some super computer I might be wrong but its along those lines

I did a couple of workloads last year. They take quite some time.

I use it from time to time...

Perhaps we should set up a PS3trophies group on there ^_^

Basically it uses the PS3's "brain" i.e. cell processors, to simulate protein folding, which somehow leads to cures, it would take a normal computer a lot longer to do one workload than a PS3, so they decided to use it!!!

i hate it now, because to complete one work unit it normally takes about 3-4 hours straight... but the window of time they give you to "complete" it is so small, i dont know about you but my ps3 is right next to my bed so im not going to leave it running through the night! So when i occasionally leave it running it finally manages to complete the worj unit, but what credit to i get? jack all.. apparently you need to complete it within a day?

I really think they should rethink that.. i mean ive only done 7 officialy, unofficialy ive easily managed 30... oh well

Its all for the greater good i suppose....

I have it start if my ps3 is left dormant for 10 mins, but thats about all i do

there is an option to power down once you've finished a work unit, and it goes into low-power consuming mode after a few minutes of inactivity, so I stick mine on at night from time to time... I'm on my 3rd PS3 (not through failures) now so my work unit total is wrong, but Ive done about 50 since I first got one. I'd rather do something like this with visible benefits than actually give money to charity (as I'mnot the most wealthy guy in the world) so it eases some of that guilty conscience! plus it looks pretty :D
