MP's that wanted new 'film-style' game ratings, looks like they're going to get it. A while ago the BBC released a news article about it. Here:

Now ive just heard on BBC Radio 1 that the govenment is very likely to use it.
What do you guys think, good, bad, what?
I don't really care as long as I still get my games XD

I'm not fussed, most of the games that would be 16+ in the current system will likely be dropped to the official 15, and it's an easier system for parents to understand, so everybody'll shut their mouths and stop complaining about it.
To be perfectly honest, this doesn't affect me (not in ways I can see yet anyway) and I understood the older system fine, I don't understand how parents and others couldn't understand the older system, it's fairly obvious. But this will just minimise those issues so there'll be more peace, which is a good thing I guess.

to be honest, I really wish the US would adopt a similar system... most of the controversy is glined from America, and likewise, whilst playing games online, if the lobbies are saturated with squealing kids, you just know what country they hail from...
There's so much press in the USA media about violent videogames corrupting the youth... simple, don't sell it to them.
The age ratings seem to work over here... freedom of speech or not.

That's so true.
I'm not trying to offend America or anything, but it seems that most of the irritating kids that play CoD4 are from there.

the hypocrisy is this; they claim that children should be allowed to get whatever games (and I believe movies - though cinemas have the right to turn down children if they deem the film inappropriate) they want due to their freedom of speech and sucha sucha rights... well, if that's the case, why can't children purchase pornography or alcohol?
there should be a uniform law.

I'm sick of the current freedom situation... We do essentially have enough freedom of speech, and it's idiots who abuse this right... however we are restricted in other areas, what with everything being taxed and requiring countless forms to fill in...
its ridiculous.
someone should spike the leading politicians with LSD so that they can see just how meaningless this crap is!
Im happy with the current age certification process, and the new laws look like a further improvement... and people who aren't old enough to play games? wait it out... gives you something to look forward to! life gets pretty miserable once you turn "legal" as it were... :P

The BBFC shouldn't be allowed to rate games, after the Manhunt 2 fiasco, it became clear their ratings are influenced by others.
