May sound a bit silly here but i cant seem to figure out how to back up my save files. I can insert my memory stick or portable hardrive and access all my films etc etc i can also copy films etc to my ps3 and the other way round. However its just the save files when i press copy i am only given the option to save to "online storage" with the psn + thingy.
Can anyone tell me where im going wrong? Looks like my ps3 is on the way out due to how many times it crashes. Spose next question will be what to do when ps3 dies? I wont have warrenty because ive had the ps3 3 years now i think.

Some save files are locked to a specific user and can't be copied off this way.
If you hit triangle on a save and then go to information it will tell you whether it's locked or not.
You can do a backup from the system settings part of the XMB (or there about) which does backup all the saves, though I don't know if that will help you or not...
Oh yah.. should do the trick:

ahhh nice i wondered if i would have to copy every saved file individually, thanks i will try this tonight and hopefully the USB stick will appear as a location to back-up to.
Thanks

Copying to a memory stick you will need to do it individually. Tho be warned not all game saves are copyable.

I think the PS3 needs a FAT32-formatted USB stick so if it doesn't show up that might why

yeah i have FAT32 formatted USB and hardrive which i use for the films etc, i think thats the only reason my hardrive works on the ps3 to be honest but still it wont show up when i have to choose destination to copy file. I will try the system back-up tool when i get in though.
i really dont want my ps3 to die just yet, not with MW3 and Skyrim on the horizon and also christmas meaning i will have no money for a replacement.
