GT5 update problem

hello,
i have just turned on my PS3 for the first time in about a month and launched GT5, it said i needed to download an update which i did, and then i was told that the PS3 also required an update so i did this as well - the problem now is GT5 will not load, i launch the game all seems fine, the do you want to log in to the playstation network appears (i have tried saying both yes and no to this) and then all i get is a blank screen, there appears to be some disc access as the green led flickers and so does the red one - but even after an hour the game still hasnt started - any ideas????
this is very frustrating i only brought the ps3 to play GT5

have you tried deleting the game data and re-downloading the update again. I play GT5 everyday and i dont have any problems with it? :sick:

Yes Stevie as MT said if you delete the game data from your hard-drive (not game save data) then you will be able to re-download the patches and it should work then. It sounds like somewhere along the way one of the updates has got corrupted so this will hopefully cure that without losing your game progress.

thanks guys, deleting and re-installing did indeed allow system to download the update again and now all seems fine - i was at the stage of either selling the console or putting a hammer through it...lol, but i am all smiles again now only problem is gotta go to work so no time to play......
