Trophy Support

Yes, you read it right. The PSP2 will have trophy support. Not too much has been said about this yet, so we are unsure how this will link in with the PS3 but there have been hints of them being connected.

The other stats are unbelievable to be honest. This really is one powerful machine. And with some big companied already supporting it with VERY big titles, this could be a huge success.

Kaz Hirai (President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc) had this to say

What I’d like to realise is playing on your PS3, and when you go out, you put the game on your NGP, and when you come back home, you can once again use your PS3 and large screen TV.

A few games have been shown, these include

Uncharted
Killzone
Monster Hunter 3rd
Lost Planet 2
Resistance
WipEout
LBP
Hot Shots Golf
Gravity Daze
Reality Fighters
Smart As
Broken
Little Deviants

There was also hints of COD being brought to the format.

One thing that was mentioned was that it is very easy to port games from PS3 to the new PSP2. A report from Epic said they ported Dungeon Defenders "in about a week".

No price has been announced as of yet, here is hoping it's reasonable.

I'll update this list throughout the day as the reveal is still going strong.

Reckon it will only be nee games Rocky. They cant really be expected to patch all the old games. Just like psone and ps2 games dont support trophies.

I think trophy support has been known for a while, if you do some packet capturing on your PS3 the SOAP requests it contains \\<\platform=ps3 its clear that support on the PSP or other devices was built into the system.

P.S i have had to escape that ^ you have a issue with handling it

The back looks a little funky...The front is sexy.
Hopefully the battery is good for at least four hours.

Looks pretty sweet. I love the trophy support and if it ever gets to the point where you can play your PS3 games remotely as Hirai mentionned, I would seriously consider picking this one up. I have a PSP but have probably only logged about 30hrs on it since I bought it YEARS ago but this new one looks promising.

This will be the first Handheld gaming device that I have ever bought. Looks absolutely amazing.

Digital Foundry has a great article discussing the specs:

"Sony's Next Generation Portable sets a new standard for mobile gaming performance. While mobile phones are currently transitioning into dual-core ARM A8s, still with a single GPU graphics chip, NGP goes balls-out with a twin quad-core setup: four ARM A9 Cortex CPUs operate in tandem with a PowerVR SGX543 MP4+.

This is combined with a 960x544 16:9 OLED screen. Resolution-wise, that's pretty much identical to the native rendering res of both Alan Wake on Xbox 360 and Call of Duty: Black Ops on PS3. Shrunk down to a five-inch OLED screen, the impression will be very much of a high-definition experience. The resolution itself is ballpark with iPhone 4's Retina display (which weighs in at 960x640 mostly owing to a different aspect ratio), though obviously there is a considerable difference in the display's surface area: the screen on Apple's phone is a mere 3.5 inches, meaning a higher pixel density.

The twin quad-core elements of NGP are obviously of supreme significance, but how will this translate into the gameplay experience and just how powerful is the silicon? During Sony's event we saw a brilliant-looking Uncharted, and Kojima revealed Metal Gear Solid operating with PS3 models and environments, while Sony's Lost Planet 2 Framework MT mobile demo looked very close to the existing HD versions on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Epic Games' Tim Sweeney also revealed that the quad-core GPU setup was four times as powerful as the current mobile platforms. Bear in mind that the iPad, running what is now an outdated PowerVR SGX535, managed to run Infinity Blade fairly well at 1024x768 (albeit with some compromises compared to the iPhone 4 version), and you can begin to get some idea of the leap in power NGP represents."

I can't post any links yet, but this is posted on eurogamer.com

I think this looks AWESOME!! I thought the old PSP was good but looking at this, they must have spent along time figuring out how to input 3G and WiFi. I hadnt heard that it was going to look like this because there are a lot of snide pictures on the internet and non of them look like this. I definatly want one because I think it will be the greatest Handheld console this year and maybe in the future. :D
