Almost anyone who has played the original Portal or experienced it while playing the Orange Box, would be excited with the upcoming release of Portal 2 later this year, which promises to be outstanding. Now there are further advantages of owning your very own Portal 2 copy.
Valve announced that anyone who purchases Portal 2 would be able to download a FREE copy of the game, for their PC or Mac. In order to get this, you have to link your PSN account and Steam accounts.
A few cross-platform features were also revealed, which will allow Ps3+Mac+PC users to play online together as well as have online chat (damn no Xbox ;)). For users who like to backup their saves, a cloud-based storage system will also be available for this.
Valve' Gabe Newell further added that Portal 2 would be fully supported by SteamWorks which would allow for auto-updates, downladable content and community support directly from Valve.
Additionally, Gabe was full of praises for the Ps3. He quoted that the Ps3 is "the most open platform of all the current generation consoles," adding that it would have "the best console version."
Portal 2 follows the events directly from the original game and will have players facing the evil artificial intelligence named as GLaDOS. It is revealed to possess a single player campaign which is twice as long as the original one. Additionally, there is an online co-op mode, which tells a parallel story to the single-player campaign.
All the above news has made me excited for Portal 2, which is due to release in April 2011. Hope the game lives up to its great expectations, because there sure are many!
