I have a question Im hoping someone knows the answer to. I have my theory but want other input. But bare with me please, hard to explain.

How long do the instructions last? Now, since you can ask the driver to speed up you can safely assume the driver doesn't drive at 100% his speed. So far arguments sake lets say he drives at 70%. Now when you give him the option to increase speed, lets say he increases it 5%, to 75%. If I wasn't to touch it again, would he finish the race at 75% speed? Or does he drop back to base level (70%).

The reason I ask is that if it is my theory above, then whats the point in mantain pace? I would guess overrtake would be a temporary speed increase. But I cant ork out what mantain does.

Or if its not my theory, then you have very little control on your drivers pace actually. Because he will be very simple minded. He can go average, fast and slow. Overtake maybe adds aggresion. Mantain pace maybe means dont overtake. But really the control is minimal.

Just food for thought :L

I think he goes back down to 70% after, i notice the moment you click on increase pace he will start to lose his cool, this stops the moment the increace pace icon dissapears aslong as there aren't other drivers around, same if you increace pace it will start to go down but will stop the moment the icon dissapears depending on where other drivers are around you.

Isn't it to do with the countdown when he says 'ok'? When that finishes, it reverts to normal....maybe?

Good question, I think it goes back to "normal" speed once the "countdown" is over.

the way I figure it
decrease speed then the driver chills out but if he is too chilled out other cars overtake you easier,
maintain speed seems to stop the needle so im guessing its a happy medium if you find the spot on the bar you want him to stay at,
increase speed the driver becomes more aggresive, but if he is too aggresive then he makes big mistakes (spinning out)
overtake is a short boost to get by but also increases aggro

as for the time the commands last I would say it depends on wheather there are cars there or not but definately food for thought

did you know the B in B-Spec stands for Boring by the way lol seems kinda crap, a driving simulator that has a mode that you dont actually drive in, if I wanted to watch someone else drive I would call my brother or my mates over to do a race for me lol

My general rule of thumb is his 'cool meter' thingy. If that is blue, he is going slow and if he is red, he is pushing. He will also go red it he is stuck behind people or having to defend from other cars.

With the pace thingy, lets say he was super cool - blue. He is going around 50% pace for example and if you press speed up, the cool bar will raise by 25% over 10 seconds then stop. Another 10 seconds later it seems to fall again. You can continually tell him to speed up to get his cool meter into the red which means he is pushing and then maintain pace. This should keep him pushing without him crashing/slowing down too much.

I personally don't like b spec as there is little skill, boring to play and the drivers are rubbish. Although, there are some good cars to be won and some nice cash so if you are stuck in a spec, I recommend doing as much b spec as possible to save you buying expensive cars.

Chronic, think your way of thinking is pretty good. Just wondered how it worked. What I hate is if your guy can handle the car and track, you have to constantly tell him to speed up!!

Tell me about it....my driver is coming last in all the FR races on Beginner, yet I blitzed them all in my Mustang on A-Spec.

if chronics way of thinking is correct perhaps origanlly when we chose are character and was randomising his stats perhaps not being as close to the cool side as i was atleast trying to get to is wrong as that might be his agression stat in many ways, iv'e deffinetly noticed my charachter brakes much earlier then most and is just not agressive enough when its needed to overtake certain cars, just another idea i thought i would throw out there.

Yeah, my driver is always on the brakes way too soon, and just will not put his foot down.

yeah i thought it was just the game in general as even when its easy for him to overtake and theres know danger he still dosen't but if everyone did what i did and tried to get it as colse to the cool side as we could this might be the reason .

Yeh Jay, my first guy I went for cool as a cucumber, but my other drivers are more aggressive, just because i think my guy misses out on pivotal chances to overtake.

You may be right with the aggression thingy - might experiment with that with my next driver. I'm worried when we get to the expert/extreme level in b spec - will they even win with the red bull x1. I just hope the drivers dramatically improve level 20+ as mine is only 7 atm.

My guy is a heck of alot better now at level 13. Still does infuriating things, but can cope much better on the winding tracks.
