Hothead today announced the second game in the series, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue which is set to release next month. Hothead today announced a second game in the series, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, set to debut next month. spoketo gamespot and had this to say about the upcoming game

"By doing two games back to back, we didn't get the opportunity to listen to everybody's feedback and try and incorporate that," Millar said. "But what we did do is take a bit of a guess at what we thought was going to come out of the releases."

As a result, Thongs of Virtue will sport more variety in the types of quests given to players, more bosses, a new cooperative play character in addition to Sparkles the Wizard, and a wealth of new environments.

"DeathSpank 1 was an introduction to the universe for people and it was very much a fantasy action role-playing game," Millar said. "For the second game--and this is a reason it was a separate product, too--we just wanted to redefine what that could be. We just wanted to blow people's expectations out of the water as far as what kind of weapons DeathSpank can have, what worlds he can travel to, and what sort of creatures and characters and enemies he can face."

Thongs of Virtue will be available on the PlayStation Network September 21st for the resonable price of $15. anyone that has played the 1st game will agree that this game is well worth the price mark and I for one am looking forward to septemeber coming around.

So if they guessed the feedback, why didn't they stick the improvements in the first game? If said improvements are in the second game which is released so soon after the first, they can't have been that time-consuming to put them in. Sounds like a money-grab to me

but if you have played the 1st one you would agree that at that price tag it well worth the money. this game is said to be 50% longer than the 1st, you could buy a full retail game and get less hours story for your money. this will be a day one purchase for me either way.

I enjoyed the first few hours of DeathSpank, but it just became a bit of a mindless button bash in the end, i wish the gameplay was just a tiny bit slower and a bit more tactical, will have to finish the first before i even think about getting this one as well.

Loved the first one. In fact it's one of my favourite PSN games, definitely worth the price. Can't believe the sequel is out so soon but that's a good thing as I've been wanting more Deathspank ever since I completed the first one just last week.

I agree... loved the first one.. not quite done it, but I will finish shortly.

I'm psyched for the sequel... especially at 50% longer than the first; it's the best bang for your buck on PSN IMO (not including PSN+ discounts or whatever)
