Online WTF?

I'm thinking about getting this soon but im confused about how the online works, like if and how i can play with my friends and also if I get the EU Copy, can play with my friend who has the US Copy considering there are 2 separate trophy lists for them.

I'm not even sure if alot of people have this here but any insights would be appreciated from the guys who do have it.

it complicated to explain (least I'm having trouble trying to explain) but it's really quite simple, you can play with your friends as long as your within a certain lvl range of them check out http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/ for shit loads of info (and better explanations than I could ever give)

It is worth noting that many of the different versions are not compatible with each other.
If the versions share the trophy list then they work on the same server and are compatible.
