BioWare have been hard at work developing a fix so Dragon Age: Origins plays nicer with the PS3’s 3.30 firmware update. Where “nicer” is synonymous with “the game doesn’t crap itself every ten minutes.” The bad news? They’re not sure when this remediation will be ready for your digital consumption.

Posting on the official BioWare forums, Fernando Melo provides an update on how the much-needed patch is progressing.

“We’ve pulled additional programmers from the main game teams to help on this and have been running several parallel investigations non-stop to find potential solutions from our end, as well as continuing to work with Sony for both dev support and other options,” he says. The BioWare man goes on to thank the community for their invaluable feedback before admitting that a release date for the update is still somewhat up in the air.

“At this time I still don’t have a date estimate for a DA patch with this fix, however, and unfortunately we do not believe there is a manual workaround for this (one of the other threads we’re investigating).” He continues: “We are currently testing this proposed code change as I write this, and if successful, the next step will be for it to go into EA’s publisher side certification testing. They are aware of the importance of this and will give this priority in the queue of titles/patches across EA. And once that clears, it will go into Sony cert testing.”

Now, I have not personally had any problems with DA since the firmware update, but then as I had to restart the game, that could be why. I am sure others of you have had probs since the update though.

If you havent played it yet DJ then it wont affect you for quite a while, as far as I am aware. It wont affect me for quite a while either.

The firmware has caused it to crash or freeze up permanently after about 10 minute sof playtime or less.

you have to select standard vga as driver before uninstalling the video driver otherwise the files are in use.

after uninstalling the drivers reboot and install the new drivers when in vga modes.

You are aware this is a PS3 forum, not a PC one, right? ;)

You shouldn't have any if you have the new patch.
