View Full Version : Penny Arcade Episode 3 Cancelled

A while back we saw the release of an interesting pair of games' Penny Arcade's On The Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness, which combined Point and Click style gameplay with a combat system reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII. The humour was bawdy, the world bizarre and for many the two episodes are still considered some of the best available on the PSN. For months now both developer Hothead and the Webcomic duo themselves has been strangely quiet about the next episode in the supposed 4-part series.

Well it seems that there was some kind of trouble behind the scenes as it has been confirmed that Episode 3 has been cancelled. There is no word on the Penny Arcade website yet, but according to IGN:

This will certainly be foul news for Penny Arcade fans, though fortunately it sounds like Holkins and Krahulik plan on finishing the Penny Arcade Adventures story arc in some other form.
So if you were particularily entranced by tales of fruit fuckers, mimes, a necrowombicon and a certain homeless hero then we can hope to perhaps see a comic or even some other form of conclusion in the future.

Damn, that's bad news. I've never played the first two games but was interested in buying them at some point in the future. Don't know if it'll be worth buying them now though. Are the first two games story related of any kind? If they're not then I may still buy them.

This is a great shame indeed, loved the first two, was definately going to get all 4 but it looks as though thats not gunna happen.
The games were all going to fit together into one big story Deak but please dont let this put you off getting them, they are great games.

I was thinking exactly the same Deak, think I'll follow Adam's advice and pick them up anyway though.

Yeah I think I will as well. Hopefully they reduce the price of the first two now seen as though the whole of the 'series' isn't going to be completed. Thanks for the advice Adam.

Read this earlier it fucking sucks i loved the first 2 episodes! This is why i havent played blue toad murder files dont want a half a story again without the conclusion!

oh no, great games if not a little short (but were psn and cheap games so not really a valid grumble). loved the sense of humour in them and was looking forward to more. Oh well there may be a new monkey island instead on psn (no evidence just loved the series on amiga and dreaming the dream)
