That's right Sony's long awaited foray into motion control has been named and it's not Arc and it's not Orb or anything like that; please say hello to the Playstation Move:

Well I must say the imagination and creativity os Sony's marketing department continues to shock and amaze, I guess at least it does what it says on the tin. It appears they have followed the Wii with a dual controller method with one housing the glowing ball and the other an analogue stick, so expect plenty of titles with moving characters, probably even some fps':

Well Sony's little Dil... I mean Playstation Move is still due this Autumn (Fall to those of you Stateside) with 36 developers announced (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/107/1076598p1.html) to be making titles for the product.
Now kiddies I'm sure we're all going to be poking fun at this glowing phallic device, but let's try keep the Ass F**king jokes to a minimum eh?

A wii mote duplicate...where has thou creativity gone? But then again this would make fps so much easier, as i found aiming much better on a wii! No harm in copying as long as it delivers the goods (so as to say) in a better way! Hope its not exorbantly priced!

just seems like a gimmick to me. i'll pass and stick with regular old Dualshock 3. (its partly because of a controller like that i didn't wanna get a Wii)

Hmm, it does look pretty slick except for the big ball on the right controller. Oh well as long as some good games support it, them I'm all for it and will probably buy it.
I can just see in a few years, some really shit titles being released for this, and it being a laughing stock.
Hope Im wrong.

Just hope they bring some good games to actually benefit us gamers using one of those.!? I think i can safely say: that i will buy one when they`re released, not necesseraly on release day.!! But at somepoint to see how it works & if it makes any real benefit to the movement of characters etc within games.??
I reckon this product will be one of those ones that are pretty evenly devided; with half the gamers jumping for it & the other half saying "Ram-it".. (excuse the french)..!!!
Either way, im sure SONY will rake in the money with this regardless - well done SONY, you continue to amaze us.!?

i think its great as were sure to get all those wii games like madworld ported over and people will buy them.Whilst sony will of course produce silly party games for the casual gamer it is clear through socom and the already motion confirmed res 5 and lbp and the rest of titles revealed there is a more mature focus.Im most looking forward to seeing what 3rd party developers come up with as we know sony will include the move in future titles like resistance 3 and killzone 3 thats almost a given. As long as its priced fairly in the uk , they say under $100 in the states but how many times have we been ripped of before ,then it can be a great success, as long as they feature both sixaxis and move support on games as it would be tiring after a while!!

Not sure if ill bother with this but Sports Champions looks fairly good, theres some screenshots here: http://www.eurogamer.net/gallery.php?game_id=12960&article_id=1003313#anchor
Motion fighter looks decent to http://www.eurogamer.net/gallery.php?game_id=12957&article_id=1003304
I really don't understand the motion control craze at all. My mate has a Wii and it's alright for a laugh for an hour at a party, but nothing more.
He had Pro Evo for it, for example. Waving my arms around to play football. Wow, I feel like I'm really there! :|
Besides, PS3 has always had motion control - the Sixaxis. How many games can you honestly name that have made decent use of that? And even the ones that did were a ballache for making you use it.
I'd far, far prefer a pad to play games. It's how I've always played them. Any game that would require motion control is not my kind of game, frankly!
Sony, stop trying to be like the Wii, just stick with the DualShock!

this to me is now seeming like a dumb idea because i just know it's gonna come with the same level of crap that most Wii games are, it'll have to be pin point precise for me to use it that sports champions looks decent, but still pass

I honestly have to say I'm quite looking forward to this. I was extremely skeptical but seeing it in action (With an analogue stick to boot) it looks really precise and looks like what we were all hoping the Wii would have been. I think FPS' will benefit the most from this and obviously the casual party games but as Jam said, certain games like football games will never work as well as they do with a pad.

Sony can take that motion sensing crap and shove it up their arse. I hope so much that this and Natal on the xbox fail so hard so that they never try anything this stupid again. If I wanted to wave my arms about then I would play the Wii my family has played about 3 times in 2 years.
Also whats with the name. The Playstation Move???? Was the person who thought of that so stupid that he ask his son or something. Granted, I probably wouldn't be able to think of something very good but I'm damn sure someone at Sony must be have a creative brain cell. They clearly added that ball so that it didn't look EXACTLY like the Wii controllers.
Fuck sake Sony how about you spend some time making some more A-rated exclusives instead of messing around with motion sensing :|
EDIT: Search "wii controller" on google and it comes up with the related news article which is an article on the Playstation Move :L

I like the idea I just hope we dont get a load of stupid Wii ports. Some lord of the ring game thats on the wii is getting a port and it looks really shit.

The ball is used by the playstation eye so that it can be tracked.

They look... actually pretty good! Apart from the bulb on the end of the main controller.
If they throw a load of Wii style games at the PS3, it'll just be something for the majority to ignore, but give casual gamers an excuse to buy a PS3 so they get some shit wave your arms about games and a blu-ray player.
But, with the PS3 being a vastly superior machine, they might make the most of it and produce some decent titles, rather than last gen Nintendo shit.

Good point. If it really takes off and attracts a whole new audience to the PS3, that can only be a good thing. I just hope the new tech doesn't cause all devs to suddenly stop producing good, deep games in favour of Wii Sports-type rubbish...

I don't see why it can't work alongside the DS3. All the haters seem to think it's trying to replace your pad.

Oh I agree, a good deals of games simply don't work with motion controls or can only have gimmicks added to them. For this I agree, regular DS3 games will be made, my only concern is they will make less of them. When Sony and Devs catch on to Nintendo's ploy that the 'Casual Market' will shell out loads of cash for inferior gimmick games will they focus all their attentions there, since it's cheaper to make a tacky, waggle your new glowing sex toy games instead of anything with substance?
I don't doubt that regular games will still be made, but will there be as many of them, and will their quality suffer too while devs roll around in 'Casual Gamer' money piles?

I guess we can only hope the Naughty Dogs and Guerrilla Games' of this world stay true to their fans and keep creating quality games.

I really dout this will cath on for the casual gamer. For one the wii is way cheaper. Alos the casual gamer will look at the games and wont like that the games are £40. Allthough I wonder if we will get some games with a cheaper price tag for this.
Even though I think its a dumb idea I think Natal has a way better chance of sucseeding than the move. Dont get me wrong I think it has potential I just dont think it will catch on.

In the sense that it could attract casual gamers, fair play to them more money means no excuses when something goes wrong. You think it will provide anything in the Blu Ray DVD department?
Murton
12-03-2010, 06:12 PM
There'll be a load of lesser priced PSN titles for it, you'll not get £40 games for the casual market. And Wii may be cheaper initially, but with all the tacky plastic crap to add onto it, plus the almost obligatory Wii Fit board, it actually costs a bloody fortune, and it's shit...
PS3 may have a higher price tag, but once you've got it you're set up with an HD entertainment system for games/blu-ray/the interwebz... no reason whatsoever casual gamers wouldn't get one.
When the PS3 first came out, I know of people that weren't even gamers at all bought it, simply because it was the best blu-ray player out at the time.
And people need to be more savvy where console prices are concerned, or they'll get financially raped by Ninty and Micro$oft and their, *ahem*, 'cheap' consoles.

After GDC, my interest in it has grown. The Motion Fighter even though it was in pre-alpha stage looked wicked, so that's one game I want the PlayStation Move for, I'm keeping my eye on it now.

Lets face it, we all know that the 'move' has potential, it will just purely rely on the type of games it is released with.
For me personally i can't stand the thought of playing Wii sports like games or FPS games on it but just think of the next Elder Scrolls/Obilivon game having it?
Now that would be cool! :D
At least i think it would anyway :P

It's just a Wiimote, they haven't even tried to disguise the controller. I've been hyped for peripheral fads too many times (and disappointed on every occasion) to get excited about this. Maybe there will be one or two games that will make it worth owning for a while, but in a way I genuinely hope that it flops.
I'm sure the technology has moved on a bit, but the Eye Toy and Eye Pet were both initially exciting, though ultimately dull and short-lived tech demos. Unless they've really put some thought into the accompanying software (it seems pretty by-the-numbers so far) and have a good number of third-party developers ready to support the device, I'm fairly sure it'll be destined for bargain bins.
The people that want Wii-style gameplay almost certainly already have a Wii or would buy one of those instead. Take the example of a parent buying their kid a Christmas present - they may see or hear that the PS3 now has Wii-style games, but why pay twice as much for a PS3 over a Wii? You and I know that it would be worth it for the 'proper' games and Blu Ray compatibility etc. but the man-on-the-street non-gamer is going to go for the Wii every time.
Horses for courses; know your market Sony!

but if you've ever seen the demo of this thing in action it is beyond awesome. You can look at yourself in the tv with the ps eye and it will look like you're holding an actual sword, or lightsaber, tennis racket, etc..... I CANNOT wait for this bad boy to come out. should blow away the wii for sure
