Strangle Hold Guy in Co-op

Can anyone explain to me why the game tells you to press triangle when the guy in all black grabs you? What purpose does it serve?

Am I pressing too fast? Is there a rhythm to it? I've never witnessed anyone else escape the guy.

I think it is just to give your team m8s more time to save you as the faster you press it the longer it takes for you 2 die

yeah, it does slow down the time it takes for the black guy to strangle you, it makes around 3 seconds difference : )

Hate these guys and yea thers no way to escape them on ur own, just slows down the blue bar giving ur teamates more time to save ur arse

There is actually though it can be tricky. If you see them coming and there's no time to aim and shoot, run towards them and blindfire then punch, like you might do in a competitive game. Sometimes it's works, sometimes it doesn't, it's risky.

Yeah you always gotta watch your back, and if one gets close, blind-fire and run the other way.
