I know there was a few rumours circulating in a thread in Games Discussion about this, mainly due to an email from an online store, but it has been made official. Don't believe me? Check THIS (http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/2010/01/29/2861/grand_theft_auto_episodes_from_liberty_city_coming _to_playstation_3_and_pc) out.

I know a few people were underwhelmed by the latest game, but I loved it and can't wait for the DLC to arrive.

It will be available on Blu Ray and on the PlayStation Store on March 30th, although at the time of writing it's unclear whether that's just a US date or applies to the EU as well.

I wasn't too fond of GTA IV, the story was barely there and the gameplay felt monotonous and repetative, but right now that's beside the point.

I hate game exclusives but live with them as it's an inevitable product of a competative marketplace, but exclusives like the Fallout 3 and GTA DLC just piss me off royal; why should some gamers suffers for picking a console? Mostly it's Microsoft punishing Sony users so they buy an Xbox, but Sony does it too.

Anyhoo I'm just glad we both get it in the end, GTA Fans rejoice.

YES YES YES YES YES! :D

Can't wait for this... Played it on Xbox 360, and it rocks!

Glad I'll be able to earn some trophies for it, too! :D

YES!!! Finally, at last! Been wanting the DLC to come to PS3 for so long and at last here it is. Definitely buying it the day it comes out. Fuck you Microsoft. XD

I totally didn't see this coming. No sarcasm. I was genuinely pessimistic about this.

But yeah, this is going to take priority over most of my 2010 games. I loved GTA IV, and I can't wait to extend the experience!

Wait, WHAAAT???
They are coming to PS3? I actually believed that the 2012 doomsday had a bigger chance of happening than these coming to PS3. Well, i am definantly gonna get them. But if you play the new MP modes, will you get cash that will count towards the old trophy?

I agree with you about the story Moggy;

"Listen Nico, I've had a bit of a falling out with my long-lost best friend and mentor - would you go and kill him for me?"

"My cop brother has a bit of a problem with my drugs habit...could you go and kill him for me?" / "My brother has a few nasty habits...would you mind killing him?"

Too many things like this is in the GTA IV story for my liking. And why oh why don't they start putting a checkpoint system into GTA missions? That way they could make individual missions longer and more involved without you having to restart them all over again when you die...
Driving, shooting and graphics were an improvement over San Andreas, but nothing else.

All in all not too bothered about the DLC, there's bigger and better things on PS3 this year. Too little too late, Rockstar :|

I actually can't believe Microsoft paid $50m for a timed-exclusive!

Apparently there's a good 10-15 hours of gameplay in the two episodes, I'm definitely interested.

Brilliant. Now instead of one major DLC for a game in March (Dragon Age: Origins Awakening) I've got two! Wasn't there some other major games coming out that month too? :P

It's now official, gents.

Anyways, I have a question. There will be two ways to play the DLC, either to download the episodes directly from the PSN or to buy them on one Blu-Ray disc and in such a case they will be a standalone game with no need for the original GTA IV to be installed.

My question is, what about the trophies in both cases? In case of buying the retail disc, will it add more trophies to the original GTA IV - under the GTA IV trophies - or will it have their own trophies icon?

I think gamers who played the episodes on the Xbox360 can provide an answer.

Whichever you purchase, the downloads or the retail, there will be trophies. And thetrophies will act as DLC for GTA IV. (Seeing as that's what it is... GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City.)

The standalone retail version is just for anyone who either prefers the retail or cannot buy the downloads, or for anyone who wants EfLC, but doesn't have GTA IV...

I think the clue's in your signature ;)

Hmm, wasn't a massive fan of the original (although I did 100% it - not trophies, just the game), but I have got a friend with an Xbox and he really rates them, so I may look into it. I haven't read the source article, so apologies for asking this but can you buy the episodes separately?

Also, on my friend's Xbox, the achievements were found under GTAIV achievements, despite the fact that he doesn't have the original game. So I assume that they will expand your GTAIV list and not create new a new one, regardless of whether you buy online or blu-ray.

I will now have to get around playing this game...due to my ever growing pile of games, such great games gather dust. But a DLc coming out (which incidently is highly rated) will give me the push to finish the game first.

1) More friends
2) exclusives
3) GTA DLC

You just knew this was coming as soon as you saw that link to the online store showing it that someone posted.

It was obvious they'd either screwed up and posted it prior to an embargo on advertising it being lifted to allow Rockstar to announce it, or they deliberately posted it early knowing it would fly around the 'net and give them some nice freebie advertising...

...which mighta worked, had I not forgotten which company it was already.

So, im confused, if you buy the Epidodes on DISC, you do NOT need the original game to be able to play it?

I only ask because i sold my copy a few months ago!

Third party exclusivity you mean.

You'll still not see Gears of War on PS3 or Uncharted on Xbox.

Not hard to see who gets the better end of that deal! ;)

I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but does anyone remember the poster in the 360 EFLC booklet that hinted at a Vice City HD?

Well on that poster it says 'Opens March everywhere!'. Does that mean something VC-related is behing hinted in PC/PS3 EFLC?

Are trophies confirmed? I actually hope there isn't, as so far none of my non platinum games had dlc, meaning the percentage is a correct representation of trophy progress, but if this dlc has trophs, and I don't get it, percentage plummets, and as I don't have the plat to the untrained eye it's less complete if you know what Mean. I'd rather there's none, and I can play it at lesure. If you don't get what I mean, for a week I was 1 trophy from ME platinum (the backpacks) but due to the dlc I had 70% or so because of not owning the dlc, despite having 95% of the trophies. Either way I'll probably pick this up eventually.

about damn time I say. I was really pissed off about them going straight to 360 and I was adamant about not being forced to get an xbox console for them. Glad they're coming

Maybe or it could just mean a new GTA set in Vice City for march 2011. Also Rockstar did say that they werent making any more episodes.

I know that much, but a Vice City teaser/trailer could be bundled with the PS3 version, like 2K did with BioShock.

Oh I thought you where talking about another downloadable episode based in Vice City. I imagine that rockstar would wait until E3.

I highly doubt a teaser trailer will be exclusively available for PS3/PC versions of EfLC, however I do hope it's true. I think the 'Opens March Everywhere!' thing will just be announcement... Nothing exclusive to anyone. (Hense why it says Everywhere).

And from what I can remember, there's either nothing or very little information about 'Vice City' in EfLC.

not overly excited about this.. actualy had almost given up hope of this ever reaching ps3.. but its on its way, so i guess it`ll be on my list of things to get. its just another reason to play through it again, this time with some additional missions/story.!!

Okay.

Btw, I was incorrect. There are two major references in The Ballad of Gay Tony about Vice City.

The first is when...
Yusef Amir complains to Luis Lopez that he had to take a private jet to Vice City to bang prostitutes for "work".

The second is the new Radio station: Vice City FM, where Fernando Martinez makes a return as the DJ.

Also, I can't beleive no-one on here has noticed this, but towards the end of GTA IV, when you're deciding whether to take the Deal or the Revenge, Niko recieves a text message from Roman stating that if Niko choses to go with the Deal, then they could afford to take a private jet to Vice City.

Deathvein

But wouldn't that mean another episode?

Continuing a story in a new game isn't exactly Rockstar's thing, and Rockstar stated that there are no more episodes for GTA IV. Plus you all know what happens in one of IV's possible endings. Vice City with Niko and the gang won't happen. That text message was most likely a meaningless reference.

Moving on from Vice City, did anyone remember the plane ticket on Rockstar Social Club that showed a flight to San Andreas? That may hint at something? Or again, it could just be another meaningless reference.

Argh, Rockstar and their mindfuckery!

I hope the next game is set in San Andreas with a new chracter because GTA San Andreas was the best game and the best location.

I find Niko really boring so I wouldent like his story to be continued.

I for one am very happy to see the DLC finally making it's way back home to the Playstation, it will be interesting to see the city I have ravaged so much in a different light. New stories, mission and lets not forget trophies and online gaming.

I personally believe that the next GTA will not be set in VC or SA, I know III was in NY as is IV so it would make historical sense for the next to be VC but that seems slightly repetative and a little uninspired from Rockstar if that turns out to be the case. I think they should go for something completly out of left-field like London (although I can't see that happening) or to go for another european city like Rome (Mafia related) or Moscow (a satirical carry on from GTA IV).

It needs to be something fresh, don't get me wrong I am a GTA fan so I would buy the new GTA even if it was in VC or SA but there would be a hint of disappointment, but that's just me.

Regardless of where the new GTA is set, it will be - as always - brilliant.

romanbellic707
03-02-2010, 02:52 AM
I think it would be awesome if the next game was in SA,we've only played in SA once that was 6 years ago and it's still the best damn city in GTA world,i would be alright with VC but we have played it twice now..VC with the updated graphics would look epic as would SA.

Oh well better late than never. I've almost got the 360 version more times than I care to mention, but always managed to resist in the end. A little longer won't hurt.
