Very hard. You have to play new game+ 3-5 times to get all trophies because some magics, miracles or weapons require the same demon's soul and you can only use it once. You also have to have different world tendencies (black or white) to get other rare items. Crafting materials are also hard to find.

Plus this game is really hard and frustrating but addictive. :)

Minimum 4 playthroughs for Platinum, and difficulty level of overall game increases by 50% on second play, and an extra 25% on 3rd. No change for 4th.

it's not hard as in really difficult.....(ok the game itself is difficult but that's another matter ^^)...it just takes lots and lots of time....still waiting for pure bladestone to drop..no fun farming :(

no,2,5-3 playthroughs are enough,as you can use the demon souls at the blacksmith more than once,just quit the game when the trophy pops up before the game can save when you leave the menu and you can use the souls again,but this wont work on the sage & witch,as the game will save instantly after you buy their last spell

but yeah,flamelurker & maneaters were a pain in the ass on new game++,and the drop rates are ridiculous,took me a whole afternoon to get 1 pure bladestone and a whole evening for the cloudstones

I originally finished the game without doing the "quit" cheat because back when it came out we didn't know if it would corrupt the data, so 4 playthroughs for me. I heard from people doing it in 2.5 playthroughs (still taking 100+ hours) so I tried again and thus included the tip on the trophy guide.

You are so right, Maneater was the most annoying boss ever... thank goodness for Death Fog. Pure bladestone is easier to get earlier in the game... if your luck goes over 20 you are in trouble. The rope rate is 0.5 out of 100. So you get 1 chance in 200... ahhgg. I counted. I killed the dual katana skeleton 109 times!.
Chunks of cloudstone are easier. You need 7 for the cheapest upgrade, and with the Sword of Searching you get 1 drop from 4-3 every time you enter. There are 2 chunks in a hidden area as well in 4-3, so if you play twice you have 4 chunks, then all you need is to kill mantas to get 3 more. Nothing like that darn evil horrible cursed bladestone.

It's absolutely wonderful to play a proper hard rpg. First time in years. I'm only about 27 hours into the game, next play through im gunna do everything in spirit form to get the white tendancy stuff. Dieing in this form doesnt affect tendancy right?

I got the platinum earlier today thanks to a friend who let me borrow 3 of the weapons I needed. I still had to farm chunks of cloudstone though, but I only needed 4 of them (took 14 runs in the storm king area).

Anyway I gave this a 7, most trophies are just time consuming, but the game itself is quite challenging and you need to finish the game 4 times (or 2.5 using that "cheat" method), so I think 7 is fair.

I have the US limited edition which came with a 160 page official play guide which is helping immensely...but it's still difficult game even with the guide.

Not quite as difficult as wipeout HD... Demons souls is more time consuming though

This is one of those games that is extremely hard more or less because of the game itself and not so much the trophies being hard. It can't be done without at the very least 4 play throughs, so that's some time consuming hard.
