After switching my PS3 and leaving it for around 2 minutes I get a message in the top corner saying the system is overheating and needs to be turned off for a while, then it turns its self off with a couple of beeps and the red light flashes. I leave it off for hours not plugged in and still it only takes 2 minutes to overheat again. Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it before I send it off to continuous play? Just as MW2 is being released to :(

ive never had my ps3 over heat but
every now and again i use the vacuum cleaner to suck all the crap out of the vents (its amazing how much dust it collects )
ive also blasted it with a can of compressed air a couple of times when it was really bad (a couple of quid from my local asda the call it a keyboard cleaner)
you could give that a try and see if it makes a difference
also make sure its in a well ventilated place and not in i small cabinet

I will try both
I think it may be damaged though as I have a little brother at the age of 3. He breaks alot of things and he could have dropped it if he tried to carry it. I have only had this one for 2-3 months, I got it brand new after my old 1 broke. Thanks for the ideas
