Pure bladestone=loss of sanity

Much as i have loved playing this game even after losing a 150hour save when my 60gig went kaput and having to start over again from scratch. My last trophy requires the infamous pure bladestone :bigcry:
I must have killed the hidden passage skeleton over 300 times and the black phantom you get to by backtracking from old hero about 200 now. Its just not dropping for me after just finishing a constant 8 hour session im now mentally drained and convinced its bugged.
It wouldnt bother me too much if i actually needed the millions of souls gained from this
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? I know the drop rate is low but statistically i should have got it by now

Statistically speaking you probably should have it by now but, hey, whoever said life was fair? Some people get it it immediately and to balance there are people like you and me that had to spend the best part of a gaming week to get it.

All I can say is keep trying. You will get it eventually.

Either that or hunt around for someone of a similar level to you that has it and is willing to lend it to you.

What level are you by the way?

level 412 on my main now thanks to massive farming of damn bladestone/thirst and soulsucker on the black phantom skeleton on 4.2 id have to unpatch and soul cheat an alt to do it that way... give it another few days and i may have to result to it :S

Sorry if you feel I am detracting from your post I just thought you may be able to help and it makes sense rather than making a new post. But where is the secret passage on 4-2 I am having issue finding it? Thanks in advance for any help and I wish you the best of luck in getting your pure bladestone:)

Hi there. Unfortunately the map from the Superguide is not available at the moment, so I'll try to explain.

Go to 4-2, and head into the temple structure, past the vendor. You will be standing in an archway that leads to 2 elevated walkways that have transparent enemies walking around (the ones that respawn).

From this point, you want to take a somewhat hidden staircase that is on the lower floor, on your left. (You can just go left and jump down if you are really high level, then walk against that wall until you find the entrance to the staircase)

If you are not high level enough to jump down without taking massive damage, then you will have to kill the transparent enemies, kill the reaper using fire magic (ranged spells) from the top and then head down to the floor where the Reaper was. Stand facing the stairs that lead to the altar where the Reaper was, and head left. Find an opening in the wall and a staircase going up.

Head up the stais and hit the walls with your weapon when you hit the second landing (the place where the stair "turns"). The wall will fade away revealing a passage that leads you to a dual katana skeleton (very strong, attack with magic from a distance!) and the White Bow, a Crystal Gecko and the Primeval Demon of this level if your World Tendency is Pure Black.

You can know which wall to hit if you look at the walls: one will have an archway pattern that stands out.

Thanks hihi, will give that a shot very soon and I know where it is from your description thanks. Need to get my tendancies to pure black now I suppose and your super guide has been very useful, that mage who summons the invisible enemies has been my leveling spot:D

You can know which wall to hit if you look at the walls: one will have an archway pattern that stands out.

The wall that you should hit will also shimmer almost like a heatwave emanating around it.
Oddly enough every time I played online (back when I was at a popular Soul Level) I never noticed anyone leaving a message on the ground pointing the way. I'd have thought that quite a few players would have done. I know I certainly left a few there.

Also a tip for people with the skele, if you shoot him and run back to the stair case go to the top floor and go into the corner next to the doorway, but do not leave the stair well. Now shoot him with arrows or magic and he will run up the stairs to get you, but when he is almost up he will jump at you and not make it. So he will drop down a flight of stairs and leave you with full health, not to mention the drop does minor damage to him. Sorry if this does not work but it has for me everytime I have attacked him so thought it may be useful.

Lol. Someone must have read my post and thought they'd better put a message there pronto. (No, it wasn't me...)

I'm not sure that Character Tendency will have much to do with it really.
World Tendency will affect the quality of the dropped item. Pure Black drops the better items while Pure White ... erm ... doesn't.

I don't know if i'm very lucky or unlucky, but after hours farming it I got 3 pure bladestones, but still missing 4 chunks.

Unlucky regarding the time it took but extremely lucky as you can now upgrade some of the bigger weapons that require two pure stones on the +5 upgrade.

Even luckier as you now have two excellent bargaining tools to trade with others if you didn't feel like farming for any more stones or souls.
I reckon a Pure Bladestone should be worth at least five Colourless Demons Souls if you ask me. :)

If I had spare Pure Bladestones or plenty of the harder chunks to get then I would certainly advertise them for Colourless Demons Souls.

While you can't drop the souls for others to pick up IIRC I'd also expect the prospective trader to upgrade a weapon of my choice to the max with Colourless. If I was feeling unscrupulous then I would insist that they include the weapon in the trade. Mates rates means they get an basic version of said weapon back. Terms not negotiable.

Actually you know. When I get the US version and start again I might just do this if I get any spare Bladestones....

I'm just wondering but I do remember reading a post where it said something like if your luck is over 20 then you will be doing this forever... Is the luck on this drop glitched and you WANT A LOWER luck level or was that pure bs and you want a level 99 luck for this?

I don't know but i had 19 luck with the 3 pure bladestones i got.

On my Asian version I got a Pure Bladestone eventually after 6 or so hours IIRC with luck of 18. On my US copy with luck of 8 it took approximately an hour.

Whether the luck stat had any effect I couldn't really say. But I suppose the fickleness of a Pure Bladestone drop is just luck's nature.

Hey thanks for the responses, I am a noob to this game so I have a few more questions... Pure Black world tendency... How can you tell when you reach that and when you reach a PURE tendency does it stay the same, because whenever you kill the red-eye black phantom it shifts towards white... so it wouldn't be possible to keep it pure black and get the better drops when killing him, correct? AND the Stone of Ephemeral Eyes... is there a vendor that sells an unlimited supply of these because I do not wish to waste them just to achieve pure black world tendency faster.

You must give Red Hot Demon's Soul from Flamelurker (World 2-2) to blacksmith ed before he can forge special weapons.
I don't think you can buy Stone of Ephemeral Eyes anywhere.
You can see if a world is pure black in the world tendency menu, that's what it looks like when pure black :

And yes if you kill black phantoms the world tendency shift toward white, but changes are only applied once you leave the world.

Wow thank you so much Tykain. I think I'm starting to get a hold of this game now. I just killed 4 bosses yesterday and that's equal to as much as I've killed in the couple of weeks that I've had the game (although I hadn't played as much these other days). I think I still need to farm out that Pure Bladestone though. It shouldn't be so hard because I kill that Red-eye demon in 2-3 hits now.
