I have no idea, especially since I've only killed it on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th playthrough. If you're dealing 16 damage/arrow, maybe you should consider getting a better bow and level up a bit before you try again.
What bow and what arrows are you currently using? And do you have anything else equipped that boosts your damage? Having a clever rat's ring on is a good idea since you'll be dealing more damage (if your HP is low enough). If you have a morion blade equipped that will also help you deal more damage.
Also, I recommend using a longbow since they have longer range, which means more damage if the target is far away.

I'm afraid I have no idea either. Several thousand at least I should imagine. But if you don't improve your bow drastically and use some decent arrows then don't even try killing the Blue one.
Always try and use a Compound Longbow (found in Shrine of Storms area 1) either +10 or even better would be a Viscous +5.
If you want a Lavabow then don't whatever you do waste a Compound Longbow on it. Chances are you will only get one of these in a playthrough and a Lava Bow carries no stats over from the donating bow. Thus use something that would never get used otherwise like the Short bow.
A White Bow might be worth considering. Got the furthest range and upgradeable with Colourless Souls. I wouldn't waste a Pure Moonlightstone at the Crows tree for it though. Carry on to Shrine area 2 and get it from the secret passage path instead.
Oh and Patches sells a limitless amount of Hard Arrows.

Hi there.
On the first playthrough, the Blue Dragon (the one you have to kill for the trophy) has about 6000 hp, and a weakness to magic (well not really a weakness but he has less defense against that)
So you probably want to get the White Bow and use White arrows against him (quite expensive). Soul light is a good magic spell to use, with the clever rat ring, geri's stiletto, etc, you should boost your magic up and have lots of spices to refill. Also a good idea is to summon some Blue Phantoms to help, as they might have higher magic/weapons that can make more damage.

thx. 6000 isnt that bad. only about 400 arrows right now. i was using a lava bow with normal arrows btw. i already have a white bow but need 1-2 lvlups to use it, so i'll guess i wait for that to happen.

Whatever you do always bring more arrows than you calculate, as there is a chance that you will miss, etc. And the worst thing that can happen is running out of arrows when the Dragon has like a 1/20 of the health left!
