Help, did I lose this character?

Ok, first, I'm creating this thread for a friend that is quite desperate at the moment. So I dont have many info. I will try to gather as much as possible information is this thread to explain the problem.

My friend experienced a problem with one boss around 15hs of gameplay, right after the last hit, the PSN disconected and the game was over, he didnt manage to get the trophy for that boss, but the game continued as normal (he got the "reward" for beating that boss normally, like he would expect from the game).

The problem appeared after he managed to beat one of the last bosses.
From what I know about the game, after beating certain bosses, you can talk to someone and go to a new location for the final boss (considering good ending). The problem is that they arent allowing him to go there, and it looks like its the fault of that boss, like if it didnt count. He cant go back, obviously, and right now he has 90+hs of gameplay.

Did anyone experience something like that? It's very weird that one random disconect may screw your game entirely so I really hope something different is going on.

do you have to be able to have the internet to play this game? hope not as i wont be having access to it soon and ive just ordered it from yes asia. sounds like a scary glitch though...

It's pretty hard to tell what exactly is causing this problem. It would be helpful to know what bosses he has defeated. I think I might know the answer though.

After you defeat the last boss of any world, you will be able to pass through the gate after the 2nd boss in the first world. Maybe he doesn't know that he can open the gate, or maybe it is a glitch that is keeping him from opening it (though I doubt it), but like I said it's very hard to tell with the information provided.

So basically, tell your friend to go to the first world (Boletarian Palace) and choose the "Tower Knight Archstone", then he will be right at the gate which I mentioned earlier (it should be covered with mist). Just walk up to the gate and try to open it. If he got the soul from the last boss in any world the gate should open.

If that doesn't work, try defeating all of the last bosses (in every world except Boletarian Palace), then go to the gate in the first world and try opening it.

I don't think it's a glitch, but who knows, it could be. Anyway, to answer your question, no you don't need access to the internet to play Demon's Souls, only if you want to play the game online.

That would be scary! But I have not heard of problems like this, so hopefully it is just that your friend forgot to do something like DemoNova describes.

Let us know if going through the gate fixes it!
