View Full Version : Who Wants A Brand New PS3 For £200 ?
Sitting on the fence about buying a PlayStation 3? Is the price the main reason for your indecision? Then maybe now’s the time to make a move…if you’re lucky and you’re quick.
UK high street chain WHSmith is selling the ps3 for £200 – two thirds of their usual price – in selected stores. The reason for this is unclear; though it is worth noting that the only console for sale on their website is the Nintendo Wii.
Supermarket giant Tesco recently abandoned the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in favour of the all – conquering Wii in its high street stores. WHSmith still sells games for all formats. However, if they are looking to follow Tesco’s lead, they may not be restocking ps3 consoles. Bearing this in mind, it would be better to take advantage of this price cut sooner rather than later.

Wow.
That is really cheap.
Ok you more than likely wont get any games with it, but if you look around you can find pretty goods games for no more than £10.
So I hope this recent price cut will edge people who have so far been put off by the price of the PS3 to going and buying one :).

Nice random fact RGL. :inquisitive:
Thanks for the update. It's annoying how the Wii is taking over the market despite it's shitty games.
Do you know which model this is? i noticed they were dropping in price when my friend brought a preowned one for £180 - £200 but i think it was scratched or something.

If WHSmith aren't selling the PS3 on their website, then what is your source exactly?
Did you just walk into a WHSmith shop one day and see a PS3 for £200, and if so, which WHSmith shop in which city, and also, which PS3 model was selling for £200?

So we're not allowed any off-topic banter at all?
Fair enough. Thanks for the update, Ly91.

Perhaps they are selling off cheap so they can get ready to sell a PS3 slimline or something?
thats good thinking marfy and i reckon your probably right if sony are going to start phasing out the current model this could also lead to other retailers following.
I don't like the idea of the slim, because it means sacraficing a component to achieve the size. So if anything it's worse than than the current model. However, i bet that fact doesn't stop sony from charging more for the slim than the normal console.

I don't mind as long as you still mention something from the thread in your post, i would have no problem with it (not trying to be picky) but it just prevents spam.

I'm buying now.
Here where I'm going to leave $ 500. More made a difference to reduce the price.
