360 outsells ps3 in Japan

Xbox 360 outsold PlayStation 3 in Japan by more than two to one in the week ending 10th August, according Ascii Media Works and Media Create.

AFP reports the AMW figures as 28,116 Xbox 360s sold and 10,705 PS3s, although it notes that both systems lagged behind Wii, which accounted for 41,044 sales.

Meanwhile, Media-Create's latest stats also point to a 360 mini-victory - quoting 24,962 Xbox 360 sales and 9,673 of PS3, with the Wii surging ahead by their estimation too.

As for why, Microsoft's good fortune can be linked to sales of Namco's exclusive Tales of Vesperia - currently number four in the Japanese charts with over 100,000 sales reported.

Let us not forget, however, that Afrika is finally released for PS3 in Japan on 28th August, at which point it is GAME OVER for all other videogame consoles. Or do you want to fight a rhino? Do you, other consoles?

I have a ps3, xbox 360 and a wii...i dont know how i managed that but anyways i bought my xbox 360 about 2 years ago my wii about 8 months ago and my ps3 about 5 months ago. I have to admit i loved my xbox while i had it until i bought my ps3 and i jus havent been back on it since, ps3 just feels like the future and it doesnt seem like its even trying whereas the xbox seems to be working itself too hard and it cannot handle it, i feel like it could explode at any moment, and wii...fun if you like mario but graphics are way too poor. Sorry for the long comment

But I stayed with PS since well, PS, the bigass grey block. Xbox started off strong but tit is holding games back now, I mean multiplatform games have to work with 8gb of memory because they want to sell it on the 360, surely the quality of the graphics, the size of the levels and the gameplay will greatly increase when they are developed for the PS3 only (eg Uncharted). This can further the improvement of new games which = win.

360 is just holding the gaming industry back IMO

A friend of mine was talking to me about this the other day and I have to say I heavily agree.
While I don't have any gripe with the system itself (Fable 2, e-thankyou) I do feel like it really threw a large pointy spanner at the industry. It, I feel, ripped games from their 'home' consoles and left loyalists in the dark in terms of dedication by companies. Take Square for example, need I say more?

i would say its more the wii its not that much better grapic wise than the ps2. have you notied how when a game comes out 360 and ps3 usually get the same versions and wii and ps2 get the same version of the game. as for the xbox i think its not that fare off a new one

Graphics aren't all that important any more... and the wii sales figures are a testament to that... not saying the wii only churns out fugly games either; look at Okami!

The 360 isn't holding back the industry either... whilst it might not have the data capacity of the PS3 (and blu-ray), it does continue to release excellent titles.

Over the coming months, both the 360 and the PS3 have some fantastic titles coming out...

I own a 360 and a PS3, and personally, I play my PS3 a lot more than I play my xbox, but that's due to my preference in controllers and games... my flatmates prefer playing the 360 and that's their right.

Right now it doesnt look like either consoles is going to flop, so who cares about the console wars? so what if the 360 outsells the PS3 for a week or so in Japan? you still have your PS3, there's still games being made for your format, and the world is still spinning!

As for losing your trust in Square-Enix because of them announcing the next final fantasy game as a multi-platform title, stop being ridiculous! That's like going off a band because of them releasing an album under a different record company...

final fantasy being on 360 i have no problem with its the fact that square enix are making loads of exclusives for 360 whats the problem with making them on ps3
