Alright, the PS3Trophy crew decided that we should expand our news coverage of the PS3 beyond trophy lists. It should go without saying that trophies will continue to be our primary focus but it never hurts to expand.

In our expansion we're going to try an experiment. We're allowing all users to submit news for the General PS3 News forum. Which basically means less work for us.. ;)

Seriously, if you enjoy writing and are good at it then feel free to submit PS3 news you find. Here are guidelines to follow when writing up an article to submit for news.

General PS3 News Submission Guidelines

- Don't plagiarize - If you find news, be sure that you write up a summary in your own words. Think of writing a book report in school, only it's hopefully more fun.

- Do practice cohesive grammar - I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge stickler when it comes to grammar. However, making threads that are informative in nature are different than those created for discussion. So, be sure you write cohesively and include as much proper punctuation as possible. Feel free to flame me on any bad grammar in a reply.

- Do include origin links - PS3T isn't about stealing others news, so be sure to link to the source of the news you're writing about. If somehow you have breaking news that wasn't found anywhere else, then don't worry. Hopefully, someone will link to us.

- Be original, but professional - No one likes boring news, but people rarely take tabloids seriously either. Try and find a middle ground. While writing, try and think if what you're penning is something someone would scroll their eyes over to read. On the flip side, make sure you're reporting as well. This forum isn't a blog, or a place to write massive opinion pieces.

-Do include images - People love seeing things, so if you have an image or video to attach to your message than do so. Just make sure they're sized right, and aren't going to bring even the fastest connections to a crawl.

-Have fun - You're doing this for free, so have fun with it.

-No Spam - Every news post is created pre-moderated. This means it won't show up at first unless an admin, or mod creates a thread or approves it. The reason is that unfortunately there are spammers out there, or disruptive users who get their jollies from making nonsense on a forum. So, don't be one of those people.

- Contact a Mod or Admin - Once you write an article, contact an admin or mod. Try to find someone you know is on the site, as we want the news to get posted as fast as possible.

I'll leave this thread open for questions, or suggestions.

I like the sound of the Guidelines and Rules but i think you might have to mention what kind of news is appropriate for users to post for example, Trophy Patches, Game Updates, New Games, Development and stuff to limit spam because it will just waste Admins + Mods time not approving useless stuff. For example spoof stuff or fanboy shit that ain't true or something because like i said above it will waste peoples time and if something like that slipped through the net then it might give the site a bad reputation.

To be honest I reckon this needs to be for mods and amdins only. We'll then rework our mod team to suit - just my opinion. If there's a chance of going on front page it's got to be proffessional and original, we can guearanteee that if its limited to staff.

I agree with the richie. I thought this is what we originally planned.

Does this work like the reviews ware a mod/admin must ok them before they are posted? If not that would be a good idea

yes liam, all threads must be approved before being posted. Which is why I thought it wouldn't matter if users are able to post. Since they have to be approved anyway.
